Enough of this nonsense

A handful of our elected representatives are beginning to figure out that skyrocketing national debt is an existential threat to the republic. This dumb ass clearly isn't one of them.

To be clear on the context, Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid was in the middle of explaining how proposed cuts in federal spending were "mean spirited," when he launched into this impassioned defense of federal funding for a Cowboy poetry festival.

Shut up, Harry.

Frankly I'm not sure that it's possible to extract ourselves from the excrement pile we are in. The debt we have run up is incomprehensible to any normal person. And it's not just the visible part that everyone is bickering about. It's the, "off budget," stuff like Social Security, Medicare, Obamacare etc. Discretionary spending is literally just the tip of the iceberg.

We need to have a serious national discussion about wants and needs. Cutting billions is a waste of time and energy. We need to be talking trillions, and there are no cows too sacred. This is going to hurt like Hell sooner or later. It'll hurt less the sooner we get serious.
